Muhammad the simple shepherd of Arabia etched out by the wicked free hands of cartoonists to become the canvas and paint of their new era "terrorist" caricature!

Wow yet crazy!

This isn't new. In 640 the Doctrina Jacobi demonized Prophet Muhammad in the worse of terms and this continued into the Crusades and until today. But little does the world knows that it was a Christian monk Bahira who confirmed to Lady Khatija that Muhammad was just visited by Archangel Gabriel and he is now destined to be the true Final Prophet!

What's new is Muslims aren't doing enough to educate and demonstrate the true Muhammad bin Abdullah. Maybe lots of Mohs is what the Danes know about but not Muhammad who never killed anyone with his own hands, despite being forced to enter battles with enemies and sensibly to anyone he had to defend his community. The first act he constituted when he entered Medina as leader of a Non Muslim majority was to sign a peace pact. He entertained the Najran Christians in his mosque for three days- praying and eating together! Where was the terror then? Where was the fearful Arab Prophet when he paid blood money on behalf of Khalid who killed an opponent tribesman wrongfully? If he wanted war there was much a room to make an endless feud. But Salam or peace was his daily greeting and he lived by it.

It was Muhammad, on whom be peace, whose charming and peaceful disposition melted the hearts of two Rabbis in Medina and won followers from Christian and Pagan worshippers alike. He was married to Maria the Coptic Christian and Safia the Jewess. How could he be cruel and anti Kafir and yet made love with them? How could he be a terrorist and yet allow us to have peaceful dialogue and even marry these “others" plus eat from them? Impossible that he was a mere warrior- Thomas Carlyle said this years ago in Europe- he was far from being a warrior and Mahatma Gandhi endorsed the same, claiming he was inspired by the Muslims' Prophet when he started his ahimsa movement for political freedom. How could the world noble peace recipients hail Muhammad as an icon but others could paint him wilder than Billy the Kid?

But where is the understanding of those bent on fame or simple hate? Why doesn't the press reveal the millions of interfaith goodwill, the harmonious living in Muslim minorities and the golden past of Muslim Spain and Palestine instead? Where is the energy and talent to organize more Pope John Paul visiting mosques and more Muslims sharing hampers? Scorn no human and forgive the mistakes of others for soon we will return to our origin- soil and then it's just one picture- soil standing in front of Judgment! Each and every one!

Muhammad was the target of vilification by those around him 1427 years ago yet they accepted him as Al Amin- the trustworthy. Is that the title given to gangsters? In the famous Conquest of Makka He abolished any inkling of revenge. He forgave his enemies and rode with his head bowed. Tell me Mr. Free-Press; is that the attitude of hate mongers? Abu Sufian and Ikrama were sworn enemies who hated his best bone. But there he was forgiving the Meccans and refusing even to retrieve his own stolen property. Hinda who chewed his uncle’s liver- Hamza- in the battle of Badr sits at this hero's feet in humble surrender! He blushes shy at this honor and wipes the tears of all with his smile of magnamity. Is this really the icon of a "woman oppressor" or "sword pusher"? Where was the terror of this "conqueror"?

Eras are judged by the yield of its focus. Twenty three years for some maybe too long but a majority of the time we are still to come off mark even after two quarters of a century. With Muhammad though, he amazingly transformed the barbaric Arabs in his lifetime after twenty three years of relentless, indefatigable work as a reformer and political leader. He had a very successful tenure in office, unparalleled not in empty edifices but moral and humane richness. "It is better for a leader to make a mistake in forgiving than to make a mistake in punishing," were the universal words of advise from this democrat without ballot. Europeans would definitely yearn for an Apostle of this magnitude and magnanimity.
